This man is wearing typical clothes of a nomad from northern Kham. He is wearing a thick sheep fur chupa with a sheep and fox lined hat. Even though it was summer, he was still wearing all his winter clothes. At 4100m it can be cold even in the middle of summer. The day before I took this picture, I was caught in blizzard-like conditions with 6 inches of snow on the road. This nomad was in the small town of Jumang in Shiqu County, Ganzi Tibet Autonomous Prefecture. Nomads can be found in the towns of Dege, Jumang and Jyekundo buying supplies for their households.
