I (along with my wife and 2 sons) have lived among the Tibetan people for the past 9+ years. I have traveled more than 300,000kms / 185,000 miles overland across Tibet. During that time I have had the honor of meeting many great Tibetan people who have shown me the most amazing hospitality. Though living in Tibet can be harsh, difficult and extreme, there is no place under the sun that I would rather be.

I have done research on Tibet for the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, BBC and numerous guidebook companies including Lonely Planet, Fodor's and Frommers. I have arranged nearly 500 custom tours of Tibet and currently co-own Plateau Photo Tours which arranges top quality photography workshops in Tibet and Nepal. I serve as the lead guide for all of our tours.

This blog is a place for me to share my knowledge of the culture and history of Tibet and to showcase some of the best travel routes in Tibet.
