This older nomad man was in the small town of Serxu in far northwest Garze (Ganzi) Prefecture. Serxu sits at 4100m / 13,450ft above sea level. This picture was taken in the summer, but this man (along with most people in town) was still wearing his heavy sheep-skin chuba. This area had received heavy snow just two days before I arrived. His hat is lined with fox skins and his boots are made from yak hide.
Wonderful site! I book marked it for later reading. We will be going to tibet in june. This will be so helpful!
