On April 12, my company, Plateau Photo Tours, will be hosting Matt Brandon on a 15 day photography workshop through Tibet and Nepal. The tour will begin with flying from Chengdu to the Tibetan capital city of Lhasa. We will then take 15 days going overland to all of the major sites along Tibet's famous Friendship Highway before arriving in Kathmandu, Nepal. The workshop itinerary is:
April 12: All participants must arrive in Chengdu, China by April 12th
April 13: Fly from Chengdu to Lhasa arriving in the early afternoon
April 14: Lhasa- Explore the Old Tibetan Quarter
April 15: Lhasa-Visit Sera and Drepung Monasteries
April 16: Lhasa-Explore the historic Barkhor Circuit and Jokhang Temple
April 17: Drive from Lhasa to Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake and Mt. Nojin Kangtsang rising above 7000m
April 18: Gyantse to Shigatse, Tibet’s second largest city
April 19: Drive from Shigatse to Shegar via Sakya, one of Tibet’s largest monasteries
April 20: Travel from Shegar to Tashi Dzom through farming communities
April 21: Explore the north face of Mt. Everest base camp
April 22: Drive from Everest Base Camp to Old Tingri via Mt. Cho Oyu, the 6th highest mountain
April 23: Drive from Old Tingri to Dram at the Tibet-Nepal border
April 24: Travel from the Tibet border to Kathmandu
April 25: Kathmandu-Explore the Tibetan quarter at Bouddhanath
April 26: Kathmandu-Durbar Square and Pashupatinath Temple
April 27: Kathmandu-workshop ends in the evening
The overland route connecting Lhasa, Tibet with Kathmandu, Nepal is one of the most beautiful and and amazing land routes in Asia. Covering a distance of 950kms / 600 miles, this workshop will take us from the modern Tibetan capital of Lhasa to pristine high altitude lakes, rivers, farming valleys, Everest Base Camp and over the Himalaya Mountains to Kathmandu.
